Off Da'Rail

I was born in 1991. Diagnosed the day before I was born, I'm a shunted hydrocephalic. My shunt was placed when I was three days old and I've never had a shunt revision. I am visually impaired, with limited to no peripheral vision...but it hasn't stopped me from doing what I love – riding a bike, solo!

I literally wore the tires (3 rear tires) off my first bicycle when I was 4 years old. I rode my first RAGBRAI (for you non-Iowan's that's the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) with my grandmother and other family members when I was 14. The 2016 RAGBRAI will be my eleventh ride across Iowa.

Beginning Monday, 3.14.16 I'll be riding 319 mi. (513 km) over the next 4-5 days. 70% unpaved roads, 100% ridable time, 12,846' total ascent with the high point at 7,400' elevation!

If we can figure out all this technology...my mom might be able to upload our progress and some photos.
